The IDF said it carried out an overnight airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip after identifying several armed terrorists from the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization operating in a manner that posed a threat to troops deployed in the area.

According to the military, the suspects were struck from the air after they were detected near Israeli forces. The IDF said the strike was intended to remove an immediate threat to troops operating in the sector.

IDF says precautions were taken

Before the strike, the military said it used multiple measures to mitigate the risk of harm to civilians. Those measures included the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance, according to the IDF statement.

Forces remain deployed under ceasefire terms

The IDF said troops in the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement. It added that forces will continue operating to remove any immediate threat to Israeli troops in the area.
