Canada Announces Additional $100 Million in Aid for Gaza and Palestinian Areas
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced an additional $100 million in humanitarian assistance for Gaza, Judea and Samaria. The funding will be distributed through international organizations including the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Red Crescent, and various non-governmental organizations, bringing Canada's total aid commitment to Palestinians to more than $500 million.
Canada announced Friday that it will provide an additional US$100 million in humanitarian assistance for Palestinians in Gaza, Judea and Samaria.
According to Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, the funding will be directed through international organizations including the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Red Crescent, and other humanitarian groups operating in the region.
Anand said the decision was driven by what Canada described as a worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, as well as deteriorating conditions in Judea and Samaria. She also cited concerns over expanding Israeli settlement activity and violence attributed to extremist settlers.
Aid Package Expands Canada's Commitment
With the latest allocation, Canada's total assistance to Palestinians now exceeds US$500 million.
The funding is intended to support emergency humanitarian needs, including medical care, food distribution, access to clean water, sanitation services, temporary shelter, and other essential assistance programs.
International Aid Efforts Continue
The announcement comes as international organizations continue efforts to address humanitarian needs in Gaza amid ongoing conflict and security operations targeting Hamas and other terror organizations operating in the territory.
The aid will be distributed through established international relief agencies already active on the ground.
