CENTCOM: USS Michael Murphy Patrolling Arabian Sea as U.S. Enforces Iran Port Blockade

U.S. Central Command says the guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112) is operating in the Arabian Sea as U.S. forces enforce the naval blockade on ships attempting to enter or exit Iranian ports. CENTCOM says 21 vessels have complied with U.S. instructions to turn back and return to Iran since the blockade began.

U.S. Central Command said Thursday that the guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112) is patrolling the Arabian Sea as U.S. forces continue enforcing a naval blockade targeting maritime traffic attempting to enter or depart Iranian ports.

CENTCOM said that since the start of the blockade, 21 ships have complied with U.S. directions to turn around and return to Iran. The U.S. military has presented the enforcement activity as ongoing operations aimed at controlling port access tied to Iran.
