Court Hears Former UK MP Was Struck 21 Times With a Hammer

A British court has heard disturbing new details in the killing of former UK lawmaker Ann Widdecombe, who was found dead at her home in Haytor Vale, southwest England, on July 8.

According to prosecutors, 28-year-old Joshua Kerry allegedly entered Widdecombe's home, walked into her kitchen while she was eating lunch, and struck her 21 times in the head with a hammer. The court was told the suspect remained inside the home for only about two minutes before leaving.

The provisional cause of death was described as blunt force trauma to the head. Kerry has been charged with murder, denied bail, and remains in custody. A case management hearing is scheduled for October 9, while a provisional trial date has been set for June 8, 2027.
