Maoz Yisrael Rekanti, a Golani platoon commander, was killed by a Hezbollah explosive drone in southern Lebanon, according to Israeli reports.
The incident took place in the Litani area on Friday at around 2:30 p.m.
Another IDF soldier was lightly wounded in the same incident. He was not evacuated to a hospital and continued fighting.
Former Egoz Fighter, Soon to Be Married
Rekanti began his military service as a fighter in the Egoz Unit before later serving as a platoon commander in Golani.
He was expected to marry his fiancée, Rani, in about a month.
He leaves behind his parents, his fiancée, and six siblings.
Hezbollah Drone Threat Continues During Ceasefire Period
Since the start of the period referred to as the “ceasefire” about a month ago, eight IDF soldiers and Israeli security personnel have been killed.
Five of them were killed by explosive drones.
