Iran-backed Houthi terrorists announced on Friday that they carried out missile and drone strikes against key Saudi Aramco facilities in the cities of Jizan and Yanbu.

In a televised statement carried by Houthi media outlet Ansarullah, military spokesman Yahya Saree said the attacks were conducted as what he described as retaliation for Saudi-led coalition operations in Yemen. He claimed ballistic missiles and drones struck strategic targets belonging to Saudi Aramco and asserted that the operations achieved their intended objectives.

The statement also warned that the Houthis are prepared to expand their military response in the coming hours and days if fighting continues, signaling the possibility of further escalation.

Escalation Following Saudi Airstrikes

The announcement came one day after the Saudi-led coalition reportedly carried out airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen's western port city of Hodeidah and Kamaran Island. According to Houthi claims, the latest attacks targeted Saudi locations including Jizan, Yanbu, and Damad in response.

No Official Saudi Confirmation

Saudi authorities and Saudi Aramco had not issued an official response at the time of publication. However, civil defense alerts were reportedly activated in the affected areas, while videos circulating on social media appeared to show large fires.

NASA's FIRMS satellite fire-monitoring system detected multiple fire hotspots within the Jizan industrial zone on the same day, although the cause has not been independently confirmed.

Major Energy Infrastructure Targeted

If confirmed, the attack would mark the first Houthi strike against Saudi oil facilities since the 2022 ceasefire. The Jizan refinery is capable of processing approximately 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day and accounts for roughly four percent of Saudi Aramco's total oil and liquids production capacity.

The situation remains fluid, and independent verification of the Houthis' claims is still pending.
