The IDF and Shin Bet said a terrorist killed in a strike in the southern Gaza Strip has been identified as Khamis Muhammad Khamis Qassas, who infiltrated Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7 massacre.

According to the joint statement, Qassas was eliminated on Tuesday after approaching the area where IDF troops are operating near the Yellow Line in a manner that posed an imminent threat.

Military says terrorist was involved in repeated attacks

The IDF and Shin Bet said that following intelligence analysis, they confirmed Qassas was the terrorist targeted in the strike.

According to the statement, he had recently been systematically leading additional terrorists toward the Yellow Line area in order to carry out attacks against IDF troops.

The military also said that throughout the war, Qassas directed and carried out additional terror attacks against Israeli soldiers and Israeli civilians.

Southern Command remains deployed

The IDF said troops in the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operating to remove any immediate threat.
