The Israel Defense Forces said this week that it had for the first time deployed its advanced Ro’em artillery battery against Hezbollah targets.
According to the military, the system combines autonomous loading, precise fire delivered from multiple angles and rapid repositioning between strikes.
System capabilities
The Ro’em battery is intended to support sustained artillery operations while lowering the workload placed on personnel.
- Autonomous loading to streamline firing operations
- Precision engagement from varying firing angles
- Rapid movement after firing to reduce exposure
- Improved endurance for extended combat use
Operational significance
The deployment marks a notable step in the use of newer Israeli artillery systems in active combat along the northern front. By combining mobility with a higher degree of automation, the platform is expected to help maintain continuous fire support while limiting crew fatigue.
The military did not immediately provide further operational details, including the location of the strikes or the extent of damage inflicted on the targeted Hezbollah positions.
