The Israel Defense Forces announced that Hussam al-Shafie, a terrorist from Hamas' Eastern Khan Yunis Battalion, was eliminated in an airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday.
According to the IDF, al-Shafie played an active role in the October 7 massacre after infiltrating Kibbutz Nirim. During the attack, he participated in the abduction of Colonel Asaf Hamami, Staff Sergeant Tomer Ahimas, and Sergeant Kiril Brodski, all of whom fell during the battle while defending the community.
Intelligence-Led Operation
The strike was carried out following intelligence gathering and operational direction provided by the IDF's Gaza Division (143). Colonel Hamami served as the commander of the Southern Brigade within the Gaza Division, while Staff Sergeant Tomer Ahimas and Sergeant Kiril Brodski served under his command.
