The IDF says the three Islamic Jihad terrorists were senior operatives involved in engineering, anti-tank attacks, and renewed terror activity against Israel despite the ceasefire.
The IDF announced that it eliminated three senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists in a targeted strike last Saturday in the central Gaza Strip.
The terrorists were identified as Muhammad Atiya Hassan Abu Afash, head of Islamic Jihad’s Engineering and Specializations Array; Farhat Zuhair Farhat Harara, deputy head of the Engineering Array; and Abdallah Allah Riyad Masoud Qadoum, head of the terror group’s Anti-Tank Missile Array in northern Gaza.
According to the IDF, Abu Afash was responsible for developing Islamic Jihad’s engineering capabilities and was deeply involved in attacks against Israeli forces. Harara served as his deputy and close associate. Qadoum had advanced numerous anti-tank attacks against IDF troops in recent years.
The IDF said the terrorists continued working to advance attacks against Israeli troops and the State of Israel in violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Their activity was part of Islamic Jihad’s effort to rebuild and strengthen its military capabilities after taking part in the October 7 massacre.
Before the strike, the IDF said it took steps to reduce harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.
IDF troops under Southern Command remain deployed in the area in line with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operating to remove immediate threats to Israeli forces and civilians.
