The IDF released new footage showing Hezbollah using ambulances to transport terrorists, conceal weapons and exploit the protected status granted to medical vehicles under international law.
According to the military, Hezbollah has systematically used medical facilities and equipment, particularly ambulances, as cover for terrorist activity. The practice includes moving operatives between locations, disguising their identities and hiding weapons inside vehicles designated for medical use.
Weapons Found Inside Ambulance in Qantara
During security searches this week in the Qantara area, Golani troops located an ambulance that had been used by Hezbollah terrorists to conceal weapons after armed terrorists violated the ceasefire, posed a threat and were eliminated.
Troops found a cache of weapons inside the ambulance, including explosive devices, mortar shells, magazines and a grenade.
Separate Encounter Near Ambulance
In a separate incident over the past month, troops under the command of the 7th Brigade encountered a Hezbollah terrorist operating adjacent to an ambulance while carrying an RPG.
The terrorist fired at the troops and was eliminated. After the encounter, additional weapons were uncovered inside the ambulance. The IDF said the vehicle had been used by the terrorist to establish himself in the area and launch attacks from what was meant to appear to be a protected position.
Footage Shows Evacuation Method
Additional footage released by the IDF shows Hezbollah terrorists who survived Israeli strikes fleeing on foot and hiding in a field until an ambulance arrives. The terrorists are then collected while lying on stretchers inside body bags, despite being unharmed.
The military said the footage provides further evidence that Hezbollah is exploiting medical vehicles in order to preserve freedom of movement and shield terrorist activity.
IDF: Hezbollah Exploits Protected Medical Status
The IDF said its warnings to civilians in southern Lebanon ahead of strikes have made it harder for Hezbollah terrorists to blend in with the civilian population and move freely through the area. As a result, the organization has increased its use of ambulances to move operatives while masking their identities.
The military said it will continue operating in accordance with international law regarding medical facilities, despite Hezbollah’s ongoing use of ambulances and medical infrastructure for terrorist purposes.
