The IDF said its forces operating south of the Yellow Line in southern Lebanon identified terrorists over the past day who violated the ceasefire understandings and approached troops from north of the line in a manner that posed an immediate threat.

According to the military, the threat was met with immediate action, with the Israeli Air Force and ground forces striking the terrorists in several areas of southern Lebanon.

Artillery fire and infrastructure strikes

The IDF said artillery fire was also carried out in support of ground forces operating in the area, and that terror infrastructure facing the troops was destroyed as part of the response to the threat.

The military said the operations were conducted in line with directives from the political echelon.

IDF says self-defense actions are not limited by ceasefire

In its statement, the IDF stressed that it is authorized to take the measures required for self-defense against threats, while safeguarding Israeli civilians and forces deployed in the field.

The military added that actions taken in self-defense and to remove threats are not restricted by the ceasefire, and said it will not allow danger to Israeli civilians or its soldiers.

The IDF said it will continue operating to clear the area under its control and remove any threat to the citizens of Israel and to its forces.
