Iran Accuses U.S. and Israel of Undermining Diplomacy Through Repeated Ceasefire Violations
Iran claims that repeated ceasefire violations by the United States and Israel are damaging diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the current conflict. Tehran says military action and diplomacy are being pursued simultaneously, insisting that Iran will continue defending itself while remaining engaged in negotiations.
Iran's Foreign Ministry accused the United States and Israel of harming diplomatic efforts by repeatedly violating ceasefire understandings, according to remarks delivered Tuesday by Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.
During a regular press briefing, Baghaei was asked about the status of negotiations related to ending the conflict. He said recent developments, including reported U.S. strikes in southern Iran and Iran's subsequent response, require a careful reassessment of the current situation.
Baghaei argued that diplomatic efforts cannot operate independently of events on the ground, saying that negotiations require a minimum level of stability in order to move forward.
He criticized Washington for what he described as contradictory messaging, changing conditions, and repeated ceasefire violations. He also accused Israel of repeatedly violating ceasefire arrangements in Lebanon, claiming such actions have negatively affected diplomatic initiatives.
"Diplomatic processes do not take place in a vacuum," Baghaei said, arguing that military actions and what he called unlawful measures damage efforts to reach political solutions.
The Iranian spokesman also praised Iran's military response to the latest developments, saying the country's armed forces remain prepared to defend Iran's interests whenever necessary.
According to Baghaei, diplomacy and military action are not contradictory policies but part of what he described as a coordinated strategy. He said Iran would continue using diplomatic channels where appropriate while maintaining military readiness when required.
Regional Tensions Remain High
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions involving Iran, the United States, Israel, and Iranian-backed terror networks operating across the Middle East. While diplomatic discussions continue, military activity throughout the region continues to complicate efforts aimed at reducing hostilities.
