Iran Accuses U.S. of “War Crime” After Reported Airstrikes
Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned reported U.S. strikes on Iranian territory, calling them a serious war crime and warning that Tehran will not allow its national interests or sovereignty to be violated.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned reported U.S. airstrikes on several locations inside Iran, accusing Washington of carrying out an act of aggression.
In an English-language statement, the ministry said U.S. forces targeted areas in Iran’s southern coastal provinces, along with two bridges in the eastern part of the country on a railway route leading to the holy city of Mashhad.
Tehran called the strikes “a serious war crime” and said the Iranian people remain determined to defend the country’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security.
The ministry said the United States claimed the strikes were a response to an incident involving ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran rejected that explanation, saying the attack violated Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter and breached parts of a previous ceasefire understanding.
Iran further accused Washington of using the incident as another excuse to avoid honoring the ceasefire agreement.
The statement ended with a warning that Iran will defend its sovereignty, punish aggressors, and will not allow what it described as American coercion or broken promises to harm Iran’s national rights and interests.
