Iran-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen claimed Sunday that they carried out a major missile and drone attack against Saudi forces stationed in the southwestern port city of Mokha.

Iran-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen claimed Sunday that they carried out a major missile and drone attack against Saudi forces stationed in the southwestern port city of Mokha.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the operation targeted concentrations of Saudi forces as well as weapons storage facilities in the Mokha area.

Houthis Claim Ballistic Missile and Drone Attack

Saree claimed the Houthis used ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles in what he described as a large-scale precision strike.

He said Saudi weapons and military equipment were destroyed and claimed that dozens of people were killed or wounded, including Saudi personnel. Those casualty claims have not been independently confirmed.

Saudi Arabia had not issued an immediate response to the Houthi claims.

Iran-Backed Group Escalates Attacks

The Houthis said the operation was carried out in response to what they described as Saudi military reinforcements, weapons deliveries and operations along Yemen’s western coast and in Taiz province.

Earlier Sunday, the Houthis also claimed responsibility for a drone attack that they said caused a fire at a Saudi Aramco facility in the Jizan region.

The group previously claimed a missile strike against an Aramco facility in Jizan on July 25, after which the facility temporarily suspended operations.

Growing Threat From Iran's Regional Network

The Houthis, part of Iran’s network of armed proxies in the Middle East, have also declared what they describe as a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia and have targeted Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea.

Saudi forces, meanwhile, have continued military operations against Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen as tensions with the Iran-backed group escalate.

The latest claims underscore the continuing threat posed by Tehran-backed armed groups to regional security, military infrastructure and vital energy and shipping routes.
