Iran Claims Retaliatory Strike on U.S. Assets After American Airstrikes; Jordan Says All Missiles Were Intercepted

U.S. forces carried out a new wave of strikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets inside Iran. Hours later, the IRGC claimed it launched ballistic missiles at a U.S.-used air base in Jordan, alleging it destroyed three F-35 fighter jets and killed several officers and maintenance personnel. Jordan denied the claims, saying all incoming missiles were intercepted and no casualties or damage were reported.

U.S. Conducts New Airstrikes in Iran

U.S. Central Command announced that it completed a series of airstrikes against dozens of IRGC targets at approximately 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 29. According to the U.S. military, the operation targeted command-and-control facilities, missile and drone infrastructure, coastal surveillance and defense systems, and maritime military assets.

IRGC Announces Retaliation

Following the U.S. operation, the IRGC warned that American facilities in the Middle East would face retaliation. Several hours later, the organization claimed its Aerospace Force launched ballistic missiles at Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan.

The IRGC alleged that three U.S. F-35 fighter aircraft were destroyed, three additional aircraft were heavily damaged, and several officers and technical maintenance personnel were killed during the strike.

Jordan Rejects Iranian Claims

Jordan's military disputed the IRGC's account, stating that its air defenses detected and intercepted all five incoming Iranian missiles before they reached their intended targets. Jordan said there were no casualties and no reported damage.

Conflicting Accounts

At this stage, the competing claims have not been independently verified. While the United States confirmed its strikes on IRGC military targets inside Iran, the reported outcome of Iran's alleged retaliatory attack remains disputed, with Jordan maintaining that the attempted missile strike was completely defeated.
