Iran Launches Drone Strike on Kuwait, Targeting Government Facilities Near U.S. Military Presence
Iran launched a drone attack against Kuwait early Saturday, targeting government facilities in the country's north and areas near Bubiyan Island. Kuwaiti air defenses intercepted the drones, preventing casualties, though several facilities sustained damage. The attack comes amid renewed military tensions between Iran and the United States, with Tehran also issuing fresh threats to regional nations cooperating with Washington.
Iran launched a drone attack against Kuwait early Saturday, marking another escalation in the growing confrontation between Tehran and the United States.
Kuwait's Ministry of Defense said its air defense systems detected hostile drones entering Kuwaiti airspace before dawn and successfully intercepted them. The ministry reported that several government facilities in northern Kuwait and areas near Bubiyan Island were damaged, but no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Attack Follows Strikes Near U.S. Military Base
The latest strike comes after Iran reportedly targeted the U.S. Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait several times during the renewed military confrontation with the United States. The continued attacks highlight the expanding regional security threat as Iran increases pressure on countries hosting American forces.
Iran Issues Warning to Regional Governments
Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, warned Islamic nations against maintaining close military cooperation with the United States.
"Countries that continue serving as America's shield will find themselves consumed by the flames of war," Abdollahi said.
He also accused the United States of using regional countries and their strategic infrastructure to protect its military interests while supporting Israel's security, claiming neighboring governments would ultimately bear the consequences of Washington's actions.
Regional Tensions Continue to Rise
The drone attack underscores the growing instability across the Gulf as Iran expands its military operations beyond direct confrontations with U.S. forces. Despite the damage, Kuwait avoided casualties thanks to its air defense response, but the latest strike raises concerns that the conflict could spread further across the region.
