Iran Releases Footage Claiming Khamenei’s Tehran Residence Was Destroyed, Issues New Threats Against U.S. Forces
According to Iranian media, Iran has released footage it says shows the destroyed Tehran residence of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, apparently to rally domestic support as Khamenei's reported state funeral nears its conclusion. Tehran also claims it launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks against U.S.-linked targets in the Gulf following American airstrikes, while Gulf states report intercepting the incoming projectiles without casualties.
According to Iranian media, newly released footage shows what Iran says is the Tehran residence of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei after it was heavily damaged in an airstrike. The video shows collapsed steel beams, shattered concrete, and extensive destruction.
Iranian outlets claim the residence was struck on the opening day of U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran. Analysts say the footage was released as Khamenei's reported state funeral nears its conclusion, apparently to rally domestic support and underscore the damage caused by the conflict.
Iran Claims Retaliatory Strikes
Iran says it responded to continued U.S. airstrikes by launching missiles and explosive drones toward U.S.-linked targets in Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it targeted key military infrastructure, including Patriot air defense systems in Kuwait and fuel facilities in Bahrain, using military drones. The IRGC also warned that additional U.S. military bases across the Middle East could be targeted if American strikes continue.
Iranian Officials Issue Warnings
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused the United States of violating its commitments and warned that further attacks would be met with retaliation.
"The United States has still not learned that bullying and breaking promises come with consequences. If they attack, they will be hit back," Ghalibaf said, according to Iranian media.
He also asserted that maritime access through the Strait of Hormuz would depend on what he described as "Iranian measures."
Regional Response
According to initial reports, Gulf states activated their air defense systems and intercepted the incoming missiles. No casualties have been reported, although the claims made by the parties involved have not been independently verified.
