Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Tehran has not made a decision on whether it will participate in the next round of negotiations, while also signaling a broader hardening of the regime’s position against U.S. pressure.
In remarks carried on Sunday, Baghaei said Iran currently has no plans for another round of talks and stressed that the Islamic Republic does not recognize deadlines or ultimatums when it comes to what it defines as its national interests.
Iran leaves talks in limbo
Baghaei’s comments stopped short of formally announcing a total break in negotiations, but they made clear that Tehran is not committing to any imminent diplomatic track.
“We have no plans for the next round of negotiations.”
“At the moment, we have not decided on our participation in the next round of negotiations.”
The wording suggests Iran is keeping the door technically open while refusing to move forward under current conditions.
Tehran rejects pressure tactics
Baghaei also delivered a direct message against outside pressure, saying Iran will not accept imposed timelines or coercive demands in negotiations tied to its national interests.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran does not recognize any deadlines or ultimatums in securing its national interests.”
The statement reflects Tehran’s effort to frame its current posture as one of strategic patience and resistance rather than diplomatic retreat.
Threat of military response
Alongside the diplomatic message, Baghaei issued a warning that any new U.S. or Israeli action against Iran would trigger a forceful response from the country’s armed forces.
“Safeguarding national interests will continue for as long as necessary, and in the event of any new adventurism by the United States or the Zionist regime, the armed forces will respond decisively with full capability.”
Iran said it has not decided on joining the next round of talks.
Baghaei said there are currently no plans for new negotiations.
Tehran rejected deadlines and ultimatums from outside powers.
Iran warned of a decisive response to any new U.S. or Israeli action.
The latest remarks reinforce the sense that diplomacy remains frozen for now, with Tehran coupling uncertainty over talks with a renewed threat posture toward Washington and Israel.
