Iran Warns U.S. and Israel Over Alleged Ceasefire Violations
Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that Tehran will respond again if Israel and the United States do not show what he called real commitment to the ceasefire.
Iran is warning the United States and Israel that it will not accept what it describes as a ceasefire that exists only on paper while violations continue on the ground.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of Iran’s parliament and Tehran’s representative in talks with the United States, used the phrase “ceasefire on paper” in a social media post to describe the current situation.
His comments came after Iran and Israel reportedly exchanged missile fire for the first time in roughly two months following the ceasefire. Both sides have since stopped their attacks for now, but the situation remains unstable.
According to the reports, Iran said its missile launch toward Israel was retaliation for an Israeli strike in Beirut, Lebanon. Ghalibaf warned that if Israel and the United States do not show sincerity, Iran will respond in the same way again.
Ghalibaf also accused Washington of changing a draft memorandum of understanding and said Tehran would not agree to any deal without the release of frozen Iranian assets and sanctions relief.
“We do not trust the other side,” Ghalibaf wrote, adding that Iran does not accept a forced choice between “war” and “negotiations.”
The exchange shows how fragile the ceasefire remains, with Iran openly threatening further military action while accusing the U.S. and Israel of bad faith.
