Israel Remains on the Sidelines Despite Military Readiness

Israel has not joined the latest round of fighting between the United States and Iran, despite previously stating that it was prepared to launch additional military operations if necessary.

According to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, the Israeli Air Force remains on high alert and is fully prepared to resume operations against Iran if required to eliminate future threats and restore Israel's military advantage.

Reports Say Washington Requested Israeli Restraint

According to a Wall Street Journal report citing sources familiar with the discussions, the Trump administration asked Israel to refrain from joining the current military confrontation for the time being.

The report also states that several Gulf Arab countries have been lobbying Washington to prevent renewed Israeli strikes, fearing that Iran could retaliate by targeting critical energy infrastructure throughout the region.

Regional Concerns Over Wider Escalation

Recent Iranian retaliation reportedly included attacks affecting U.S. military facilities as well as airports, oil infrastructure, power stations, and desalination facilities in the Gulf region, raising concerns that further escalation could threaten regional stability.

Regional mediators reportedly believe that direct Israeli involvement could make it significantly harder for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to return to negotiations, increasing the risk of a prolonged conflict.

Israel Appears Focused on Economic Pressure

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich reportedly told a security meeting that weakening the Iranian regime economically remains one of Israel's highest priorities. He suggested that the current situation is working in Israel's favor and that there is no immediate need for direct military intervention, while emphasizing that Israel remains prepared for every possible scenario.
