Israel’s Defense Ministry has placed new orders worth about $200 million with Elbit Systems for advanced airborne munitions, as the government deepens its wartime push to expand local arms production.
The announcement came less than a month after Elbit secured an additional order worth about $50 million to supply tens of thousands of artillery shells to the IDF.
Third Major Airborne Munitions Order
The latest procurement marks the third round of airborne munitions orders awarded to Elbit in less than a year.
According to the figures released, the cumulative value of those aerial munitions contracts now exceeds $665 million.
About $300 million in orders were placed in August.
Another $200 million followed in January.
The newest package adds roughly $200 million more.
These orders come on top of other wartime purchases made during the recent confrontation involving Israel, the United States and Iran.
Drive for Domestic Production
The Defense Ministry said the new contracts are part of a broader strategy to expand Israel’s independent defense manufacturing capacity and cut dependence on foreign suppliers.
The procurement push reflects an effort to secure critical weapons systems through local industry as defense demand continues to rise.
Additional Drone Order
Separately, the ministry placed a smaller order worth about NIS 2 million, or roughly $665,000, with drone manufacturer Aero Sol, which is controlled by Veloryx.
Aero Sol’s factory in Petah Tikva was hit during the recent conflict by a missile launched from Iran. Veloryx acquired control of the company about six weeks ago for NIS 25 million.
Wartime Spending Continues
The new Elbit contracts add to a growing series of wartime defense deals as Israel accelerates procurement across multiple sectors, with a particular focus on ensuring steady local supply of munitions and other military systems.
