Israeli Firm Smart Shooter Wins $10.7M U.S. Army Deal for Drone-Interception Systems
Israeli defense company Smart Shooter has secured a $10.7 million U.S. Army contract for its SMASH fire control systems, designed to help troops hit drones and other moving threats with greater accuracy. The deal follows earlier U.S. orders and comes as militaries look for faster answers to the growing small-drone threat.
Israeli defense technology company Smart Shooter has won a $10.7 million contract to supply the U.S. Army with its SMASH 3000SA fire control systems.
The order covers soldier-mounted systems and related support services. Deliveries are expected in the third quarter of 2026.
The agreement also includes an extended three-year warranty package worth about $1.5 million, which the company expects to recognize as revenue over time.
Built to Counter the Drone Threat
The deal comes as armed forces around the world race to improve their defenses against small drones. Low-cost unmanned aircraft have become a major threat on today’s battlefield, forcing infantry units to find better ways to detect, track, and shoot them down.
Smart Shooter says its SMASH family of systems is drawing more interest because it can help soldiers engage both traditional targets and unmanned aerial systems, including newer fiber-optic-controlled drones that are harder to stop through electronic warfare alone.
Follow-On Deal After Earlier U.S. Orders
The new contract builds on a $13.4 million U.S. Army agreement signed in May 2025. It also follows a separate $2.4 million contract announced in March 2026 with JIATF-401, a joint task force focused on countering small drone threats.
Smart Shooter CEO Michal Mor said the renewed U.S. selection shows confidence in the company’s technology. She said military forces are looking for counter-drone tools that are ready now, reliable, and proven under real battlefield pressure.
How the SMASH System Works
The SMASH 3000SA is sold in the United States as SMASH 2000LE. It is a lightweight fire control system mounted on a soldier’s weapon.
The system uses artificial intelligence and computer vision to lock onto and track targets. It is designed to allow a shot only when the system calculates a strong chance of hitting the target.
That capability is meant to improve accuracy against still and moving threats, including drones flying above the battlefield.
Expanding Use With U.S. Forces
The contract will be carried out through Atlantic Diving Supply, known as ADS Inc., a long-time Smart Shooter partner and a major supplier to the U.S. defense market.
Smart Shooter’s technology has already been used by U.S. forces in recent years, including the Marine Corps. The new order points to a wider shift toward giving infantry troops AI-enabled tools that improve precision at the squad level.
As drone warfare continues to reshape the battlefield, systems like SMASH are becoming more important for frontline troops who need a practical way to defeat small aerial threats without waiting for larger air-defense assets.
