Netanyahu, Katz Signal Expanded IDF Operations Against Terrorist Strongholds in Judea and Samaria Ahead of Trump Meeting

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced Sunday that Israel is prepared to broaden military operations against terrorist infrastructure in Judea and Samaria following recent terrorist attacks. The statements were made during the weekly Cabinet meeting, where ministers reviewed the security situation and discussed additional counterterrorism measures.

Expanded Counterterrorism Operations

Netanyahu said Israeli security forces have already intensified operations by entering villages, conducting searches, seizing illegal weapons, and arresting terrorist suspects. He revealed that Israeli forces recently carried out an operation at a hospital in Shechem (Nablus), where two accomplices linked to a terrorist attack were arrested.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that the terrorist's home has been sealed ahead of demolition and that additional properties connected to accomplices have been mapped for future action.

"We are also prepared to operate on a broader scale against the terrorist nests," Netanyahu said.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said the IDF has already conducted extensive operations inside refugee camps and indicated additional missions will likely be required.

"The IDF is operating on the ground, sweeping through the area, making arrests, and acting decisively," Katz told ministers.

Cabinet Calls for Tougher Measures

Several ministers urged stronger rules of engagement to better confront terrorism.

• Education Minister Yoav Kisch called for changing the rules of engagement.
• National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir advocated renewed targeted killings and greater authority for soldiers to open fire during terrorist incidents.
• Economy Minister Nir Barkat argued that terrorists can be distinguished from civilians and supported stronger operational responses.
• Minister Ze'ev Elkin and Deputy Minister Almog Cohen also called for significantly tougher responses against terrorism.

Military officials noted that operational challenges remain when terrorists deliberately operate among civilian populations.

Netanyahu to Meet President Trump

Netanyahu announced that he will depart for Washington on Monday for talks with President Donald Trump. According to the Prime Minister, the meeting will focus on several strategic issues, including Iran and regional security.

He also said he plans to attend a memorial service honoring Senator Lindsey Graham.

ICC Criticism

Netanyahu also criticized the International Criminal Court, saying recent developments surrounding the court's chief prosecutor exposed what he described as deep corruption within the institution. He said U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed America's intention to act forcefully against the ICC, calling it an important step in defending international justice.

Additional Developments

Separately, police arrested two suspects in connection with overnight settler attacks, while Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa stated that Syria does not intend to intervene militarily in Lebanon.

Israel's leadership emphasized that the fight against terrorism in Judea and Samaria will continue and signaled that broader military action remains on the table if security conditions require it.
