Netanyahu Says Israel Achieved Its Main Goals Against Iran
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel achieved the main goals of its campaign against Iran, stressing that the nuclear and ballistic missile threats were pushed back and that Israel will not allow Tehran to obtain nuclear weapons.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that Israel achieved the main goals of its military campaign against Iran, rejecting claims that the operation failed because the Iranian regime remains in power.
Netanyahu said Israel’s objectives were clear: remove the immediate nuclear threat, reduce the ballistic missile threat, and create conditions that could weaken Iran’s terror regime from within.
“We said we wanted to remove an existential danger from over us: first, the nuclear danger — and we did that. We said we wanted to remove the ballistic missile danger — and we did that,” Netanyahu said.
The prime minister said Israel, together with the United States, carried out one of the largest military operations in Israel’s history. He pointed to strikes on nuclear facilities, missile factories, military infrastructure, terror-regime leaders, and senior Iranian commanders.
Israel Keeps Freedom of Action
Netanyahu also stressed that Israel is not bound by any U.S.-Iran agreement and does not yet know all the details of the deal. He said Israel will continue to act as needed to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
“With an agreement or without an agreement, Iran will not have nuclear weapons — not today and not tomorrow,” Netanyahu said.
He also said Israeli forces will remain in southern Lebanon’s buffer zone for as long as necessary, making clear that Israel will not allow Hezbollah terrorists to rebuild their threat on the border.
Opposition Attacks Netanyahu
Opposition leaders criticized Netanyahu after the press conference, accusing him of moving the goalposts and failing to bring down Iran’s regime. Netanyahu rejected that argument, saying regime change was never the direct military objective.
His central message was clear: Israel’s main security goals were achieved, Iran suffered massive damage, and Israel will keep its hands free against Iran, Hezbollah, and every terror threat facing the Jewish state.
