President Trump Presents World Cup Trophy to Spain After 2026 FIFA World Cup Final

President Donald Trump attended the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final on July 19 at New Jersey Stadium, where Spain defeated Argentina to win the tournament.

According to Reuters, Trump arrived aboard Marine One and watched the championship match from the VIP section alongside First Lady Melania Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Before the match, Trump stood during the U.S. national anthem. He was also seen examining and briefly holding the World Cup trophy before the final whistle, tapping it lightly before presenting it to the eventual champions.

Following Spain's victory, Trump took part in the trophy presentation ceremony, handing the FIFA World Cup trophy to the Spanish national team.

During the event, Trump also spoke briefly with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, whose countries co-hosted the tournament with the United States. He additionally exchanged a handshake with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, despite recent political tensions between Washington and Madrid over NATO defense spending and disagreements surrounding Iran.

The appearance marked one of the highest-profile moments of the tournament, with the U.S. president participating in the championship ceremony before a global audience.
