Reports Claim IRGC Chief Ahmad Vahidi May Have Been Killed in Israeli Strike
Unconfirmed reports say IRGC chief Ahmad Vahidi may have been killed in Tehran during a recent Israeli strike, though neither Israel nor Iran has confirmed the claim.
Unconfirmed reports are circulating that Ahmad Vahidi, the head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, may have been killed in a recent Israeli military strike in Tehran.
According to Hindustan Times, rumors on social media claim that Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi was either killed or assassinated during an Israeli strike on June 8. There has been no official confirmation from either Israel or Iran.
Vahidi was appointed IRGC chief on March 1 after several senior Iranian military officials, including his predecessor Mohammad Pakpour, were reportedly killed during the opening day of U.S. and Israeli strikes.
Who Is Ahmad Vahidi?
Vahidi previously served as Iran’s defense minister and interior minister. From 1988 to 1998, he commanded the IRGC’s Quds Force, the regime’s foreign operations arm responsible for spreading Iranian terror influence abroad.
He has long been wanted by Argentine authorities and Interpol over alleged involvement in the 1992 bombing of the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires and the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center.
The reports remain unverified, but the speculation highlights the growing pressure on Iran’s terror command structure as Israel continues to target threats tied to Tehran’s regional network.
