Six Israeli Tourists Attacked With Knives and Hatchets in Suspected Antisemitic Assault in Mongolia
Six Israeli travelers were attacked at a campsite in northern Mongolia by men allegedly shouting Nazi slogans. One victim suffered a broken jaw, while the group managed to fight off the attackers and escape.
Six Israeli tourists were violently attacked this week in northern Mongolia in what the victims believe was a deliberate antisemitic assault.
According to Kan News, the attack took place Monday evening at a campsite where three Israeli men and three Israeli women had stopped during their trip.
The travelers said a group of men approached them as they prepared to camp. Sensing danger, the Israelis put on closed shoes and prepared for a possible confrontation.
Attackers Allegedly Shouted Nazi Slogans
Moments later, the men allegedly attacked the group with knives and hatchets while shouting “Heil Hitler” and ordering the Israelis to leave.
The Israeli travelers fought back. One used a glass bottle to repel an attacker, while another managed to disarm a man carrying a knife. The group eventually drove the assailants away.
One Israeli suffered a broken jaw after being struck in the face. He was later flown back to Israel for medical treatment.
“It was clear that it was motivated by antisemitism,” one of the victims said.
Israeli Officials Assisted the Travelers
After the assault, the tourists escaped the area with help from a local driver.
They contacted the Israeli Embassy in China, which also handles diplomatic matters involving Mongolia. Embassy personnel and the Israeli ambassador remained in contact with the group, provided assistance and helped ensure that they safely left the country.
The attack highlights the growing security risks facing Israelis and Jews abroad as antisemitic hatred continues to fuel real-world violence.
