Trump Praises Netanyahu as a "Warrior Prime Minister," Urges Iran to Reach Long-Term Deal
President Donald Trump praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a "warrior Prime Minister" while reaffirming the strong U.S.-Israel relationship. Trump also warned Iran to use the 60-day window created by the new agreement to negotiate a lasting deal with the United States or face consequences.
Speaking during a visit to Joint Base Andrews on Friday, President Donald Trump discussed the newly signed agreement with Iran, saying it establishes a 60-day period for further negotiations.
"Now we have an agreement that was signed last night, and it's 60 days," Trump said.
Trump urged the Iranian regime to use the opportunity to reach a long-term agreement with the United States, warning that failure to do so could trigger additional American action.
"They have to make a deal; otherwise, we'll do things that won't make them happy, but I don't think it's gonna get to that," Trump stated.
Shipping Through Hormuz Returns
Trump also highlighted what he described as a sharp increase in maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, saying hundreds of vessels are once again moving through the strategic waterway.
He pointed to the renewed flow of global oil shipments as a sign of improving regional stability following recent tensions.
Trump Praises Netanyahu
Despite recent public disagreements over policy toward Iran, Trump emphasized that relations between the United States and Israel remain strong.
"We've had a great relationship with Israel. Very formidable. Bibi Netanyahu, he's a warrior prime minister, and he should be acknowledged as that," Trump said.
Trump credited Netanyahu for his leadership during the confrontation with Iran and said the United States and Israel worked closely together throughout the crisis.
Political Support
Trump's comments come one day after he told Israel's Kan 11 News that he would be "very likely" to support Netanyahu in Israel's next election, further signaling his continued backing of the Israeli prime minister.
