Trump Says Iran Conflict Could End Soon, Signals Progress in Ongoing Negotiations

Trump Optimistic About a Near-Term End to the Conflict

Speaking during a White House executive order signing ceremony, President Donald Trump told reporters that he believes the conflict involving Iran will not continue much longer.

"I think it's going to end soon. It can't last much longer," Trump said, adding that he is personally involved in negotiations and believes the discussions are making solid progress. He also expressed confidence that an agreement could be reached in the near future.

Trump did not provide a specific timeline or explain what led him to believe the conflict could end soon.

Hormuz Strait Remains a Key Issue

The president also declined to discuss the status of negotiations involving the Strait of Hormuz. A day earlier, Trump said the United States had held very productive discussions related to Iran and predicted that the strategic waterway would reopen soon.

Iran, however, has continued to reject direct negotiations with the United States while maintaining its focus on talks with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump Rejects Reports of U.S. Missile Shortages

Responding to media reports claiming that U.S. interceptor missile stockpiles were rapidly depleted during the conflict, Trump firmly rejected the claims.

"We have extremely powerful munitions, and we can supply them virtually without limit. We have enormous amounts of ammunition," Trump said.

Trump also dismissed reports suggesting he had clashed with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over ammunition shortages, calling those reports "treasonous fake news" and denying speculation that Hegseth could be removed from his position.
