Trump Says Iran Deal Could Come Within Three Days as Pressure Builds on Tehran
President Donald Trump says a strong agreement with Iran could be reached within two or three days, adding that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen immediately if a deal is signed.
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that a deal with Iran could be reached within “two or three days,” describing the talks as close to producing a strong agreement that would block Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Trump told reporters that both Iran and Israel had agreed, through him, to stop firing at each other for now. He said he had also spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while urging that the fighting end as quickly as possible.
“We’re in the final throes of a very good deal that will not allow in any way or form nuclear weapons,” Trump said.
Trump also said the Strait of Hormuz would reopen immediately once an agreement is signed, a key issue for global energy markets and regional security.
Pressure on Iran
Trump argued that continued military action was not his preferred option, saying the United States could strike Iran heavily if needed, but that such action would bring major destruction and casualties.
Instead, he pointed to economic pressure and blockade measures as powerful tools against the regime in Tehran. Iran is facing severe economic stress, including high inflation, economic contraction, and major energy shortages.
“The blockade has turned out to be much stronger than bombing,” Trump said, adding that Iran’s economy is “really suffering.”
Deal or Delay?
Trump has repeatedly said an agreement with Iran is close. It is still unclear whether that means a real diplomatic breakthrough is near, whether the comments are meant to calm financial markets, or whether Washington is buying time as Iran’s internal pressure grows.
For Israel, the key issue remains clear: Iran must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons, arm terror proxies, or threaten the region through its terror network.
The coming days may show whether Tehran is ready to accept a serious deal — or whether more pressure will be needed.
