President Donald Trump said 19 million barrels of oil moved through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, calling it an all-time record and proof that his agreement with Iran is already stabilizing global energy markets.

“Oil prices are tumbling down, and the world is a much safer place,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. The figure has not yet been independently verified.

The comments came as Iran and Oman issued a joint statement reaffirming what they described as their sovereignty and sovereign rights over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil routes.

Following talks in Muscat, Oman and Iran said they are forming a joint working group to discuss the future administration of navigation in the strait, including services and related costs under international standards.

Both countries said the strait must remain secure and open for international navigation, while stressing that any arrangements must respect the rights of the coastal states.

Trump has made clear that the United States will not allow Iran to use Hormuz as a weapon against the world economy. He said Iran agreed to long-term, high-level nuclear inspections and that sanctions relief will be held in U.S.-controlled escrow for humanitarian purchases from American farmers and suppliers.
