President Donald Trump said the United States is considering a military operation against Iran that would exceed the scale of previous campaigns, according to an interview with Axios. Trump stated that preparations have been completed and indicated that a final decision could come soon.
The president said that if he requested Israeli participation, Israel would join the operation "within two minutes." At the same time, he stressed that the United States is fully capable of acting independently if necessary.
Warning to Iran and the Houthis
Trump also issued a direct warning following renewed attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist group on commercial shipping in the Red Sea. He said any future attacks would result in strong military retaliation against both the Houthis and Iran, which Washington considers responsible for supporting the terrorist organization.
"If they attack again, Iran will face significant military consequences, and the Houthis themselves will also be targeted," Trump said.
Red Sea Tensions Escalate
The warning came after the Houthis claimed responsibility for an operation targeting two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. The terror group has repeatedly threatened international shipping, disrupting one of the world's most important trade routes.
Trump noted that the United States had previously carried out major strikes against Houthi positions after attacks on commercial vessels and said the group had largely refrained from further aggression until the latest incident.
Congress Weighs War Powers
As tensions continue to rise, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a resolution requiring congressional authorization for military action against Iran. The Senate is expected to consider similar legislation in the coming days.
The developments underscore growing concerns that the confrontation between the United States and Iran could further escalate if attacks by Iran-backed terror proxies continue.
