Trump Issues Final Warning to Tehran

President Donald Trump sharply increased pressure on Iran, saying Tehran has a final opportunity to sign an agreement before the United States considers further military action against the Iranian leadership.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said discussions were taking place at Iran’s request and described the current diplomatic opening as Tehran’s last chance to accept what he called a good agreement.

“I want to give them every last chance before we decapitate them. This is the last chance,” Trump said.

Trump suggested that failure to reach a deal could lead to action aimed directly at Iran’s leadership. He said the situation would be resolved quickly, although he did not provide a firm deadline for a final agreement.

Major U.S. Strike Was Reportedly Canceled

Trump said the United States had prepared a massive attack on Iran but canceled it after appeals from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

He claimed the planned operation would have been the largest U.S. attack on Iran since World War II. His comments appeared intended to warn Tehran that Washington remains prepared to use overwhelming force if diplomacy fails.

Trump has also accused Iran of privately requesting negotiations while publicly denying that talks are taking place.

Strait of Hormuz Is First Priority

Trump said the first stage of any agreement would require the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Nuclear negotiations would follow, with the ultimate goal of Iran’s complete denuclearization.

“The first phase is to fully open the strait. In the second phase, we will discuss the nuclear issue. Iran’s denuclearization must happen,” Trump said.

Trump also said the United States would not allow Iran to collect transit fees from commercial vessels passing through the strategic waterway.

Iran Denies Direct Talks With Washington

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Iran was not currently negotiating with the United States. He said Tehran was instead holding discussions with Oman over navigation and shipping arrangements in and around the Strait of Hormuz.

Baghaei said the talks were focused on creating a temporary route that would protect maritime security while respecting Iranian and Omani sovereignty.

Iranian officials blamed the closure of the strait on what they described as American and Israeli aggression. Tehran said the waterway would remain restricted until alleged U.S. violations ended.

Iran Threatens U.S. Warships and Bases

An adviser to Iran’s supreme leader warned that Iranian forces would attack U.S. warships if the American military attempted to force commercial vessels onto a route not approved by Tehran.

The adviser also threatened strikes against American ships and military bases if the United States continued what Iran described as a maritime blockade.

The opposing statements leave Washington and Tehran locked in a dangerous confrontation. Trump is offering Iran a final diplomatic path while making clear that the United States will not accept nuclear escalation, threats to international shipping or Iranian control over one of the world’s most important waterways.
