President Donald Trump issued a direct warning to Tehran after recent American military deaths, saying Iran will face overwhelming retaliation whenever it kills a U.S. service member. The warning comes as U.S. and Iranian forces exchange new strikes across the Middle East and tensions rise around the Strait of Hormuz.
President Donald Trump has vowed severe retaliation against Iran following the deaths of American service members in recent attacks across the Middle East.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said Iran would pay several times over for every U.S. soldier it kills. He added that the directive had been delivered to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Daniel Caine, and senior military commanders.
“Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over!” Trump wrote.
According to the reports, two American service members were killed in an Iranian missile and drone attack on a U.S. position in Jordan. A third service member was later killed in Iraq during an operation involving an unexploded Iranian drone.
The reports identified the troops killed in Jordan as 19-year-old Private Isabella Gonzales and 25-year-old Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan. Another American service member was reported missing following the attack, while unidentified remains were reportedly recovered during search efforts.
Trump said recent American strikes hit Iran “very hard” and were carried out in honor of the fallen troops.
U.S. Central Command reportedly carried out a ninth consecutive night of strikes against Iranian targets. The operation was aimed at weakening Iran’s ability to threaten American forces and disrupt commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
The strikes also targeted forces linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which the United States holds responsible for attacks on American personnel and regional infrastructure.
Iranian media reported explosions in several locations, including Tabriz, Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Mahshahr, and Bandar Imam Khomeini. Iranian authorities also claimed attacks against American military facilities in Jordan, Kuwait, and Syria.
The fighting has increasingly centered on the Strait of Hormuz, a critical international shipping route. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed that two oil tankers exploded after entering what it described as an unsafe route through the waterway.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency separately reported that a vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile near Oman. The ship was left adrift, but its crew was reported safe.
Kuwait also said one of its desalination plants was attacked for a second consecutive day, raising concerns about threats to civilian water supplies across the Gulf.
Despite the expanding conflict, officials in both Washington and Tehran indicated that negotiations remain possible.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States would continue responding as long as Iran threatens international shipping, while emphasizing that Washington remains open to a diplomatic solution.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry also acknowledged receiving proposals from international mediators but did not provide details.
Trump’s message was unmistakable: attacks on American troops will not go unanswered. Iran and its terror-supporting military network now face a U.S. administration promising decisive consequences for every American life taken.
