Two U.S. Soldiers Killed as Iranian Attack on Jordan Base Leaves Nearly 100 American Troops Wounded

The U.S. Department of Defense has identified two American soldiers killed during an Iranian attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The Pentagon also confirmed that nearly 100 U.S. service members have been wounded in Iranian attacks across the Middle East since July 7, with most already returning to duty.

Two Soldiers Identified

The U.S. Department of Defense announced the deaths of two active-duty soldiers who were supporting Operation Inherent Resolve after an enemy attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, was killed in action on July 18, 2026. Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, was killed in action on July 17, 2026. Both were serving in U.S. Army Air Defense units when the base came under attack. The incident remains under investigation.

Feehan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 32nd Army Air Missile Defense Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Gonzales served with the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air Missile Defense Command, based in Ansbach, Germany.

Nearly 100 U.S. Troops Wounded

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that Iranian attacks against U.S. military installations across the Middle East since July 7 have injured approximately 100 American service members.

According to the Pentagon, roughly 96 percent of those wounded have already returned to duty. Most suffered mild traumatic brain injuries or concussions, and officials said many expressed a strong determination to continue serving.

The latest casualty figures highlight the growing risks facing U.S. forces deployed throughout the Middle East as tensions with Iran continue to escalate. The deaths of the two soldiers mark a significant loss for Operation Inherent Resolve and underscore the continuing threat posed by Iranian attacks on American military personnel in the region.
