US Forces Shoot Down Iranian Attack Drones Near Strait of Hormuz
US forces intercepted two Iranian attack drones near the Strait of Hormuz after CENTCOM said they threatened international maritime traffic.
US forces shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones near the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, according to US Central Command.
CENTCOM said the drones posed a threat to international maritime traffic in one of the world’s most important shipping lanes.
“US forces in the Middle East shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones that threatened international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM said.
The incident came one day after US forces intercepted four additional Iranian attack drones launched toward the same strategic waterway.
Iranian Aggression Expands in the Gulf
The latest interceptions followed reports from Bahrain that Iranian ballistic missiles and drones aimed toward Bahrain and Kuwait were intercepted early Saturday.
Bahrain urged Tehran to stop attacking its Gulf neighbors as tensions continue to rise across the region.
Iran claimed it was targeting US military assets in Bahrain and Kuwait after American strikes on sites near Qeshm Island and Sirik, which Tehran described as surveillance facilities tied to maritime security.
Security Threat to Global Shipping
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical route for international energy and commercial shipping. Iranian drone and missile activity in the area is a direct threat to global maritime security.
CENTCOM said US forces remain ready to defend against Iranian aggression.
The exchanges come as the Trump administration continues efforts to reach a deal aimed at ending the broader conflict.
