U.S. says forces boarded sanctioned vessel carrying Iranian oil in Indian Ocean

U.S. forces carried out an overnight maritime interdiction and right-of-visit boarding of the stateless vessel M/T Majestic X in the Indian Ocean, according to the Defense Department. The department said the tanker was transporting Iranian oil and released footage from the operation.

The department said the vessel was transporting oil from Iran and was intercepted within the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.

Footage released

The Defense Department also released footage showing U.S. personnel on the vessel during the operation.

The statement said Washington will continue maritime enforcement operations against networks and vessels accused of providing material support to Iran.
