French President Emmanuel Macron left his Damascus hotel just minutes before multiple explosions rocked the area Tuesday morning. According to reports, two homemade explosive devices detonated near the Four Seasons Hotel roughly 15 minutes after Macron departed. Syrian sources later reported that three Syrians were killed, while security forces launched an investigation to find those responsible. Macron continued with his scheduled meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, despite the security incident. His visit is the first by a prominent Western leader since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in 2024 and comes ahead of the NATO summit in Turkey. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet identified those behind the attack.
