What is this woman really crying for?
What is this woman really crying for? Even if she were to die for Khamenei, she isn't going to meet him in paradise. Is this simply the result of decades of indoctrination? Or is it something deeper? I've often wondered the same thing when watching North Koreans weep for their dictators. Defectors say that while some people are genuinely indoctrinated, many others cry for a different reason. Their lives are filled with hardship, they're forced to participate in state ceremonies, and in those emotionally charged mass gatherings, years of pain and frustration finally come pouring out. In other words, the tears aren't always just for the dictator. Sometimes they're for a lifetime of suffering. I can't help but wonder if we're seeing something similar in Iran.
