TFTC Nations Impose New Sanctions on Hezbollah Financial Network
The U.S. Treasury Department announced Monday that member states of the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC) have imposed coordinated sanctions against key elements of Hezbollah's financial network.
The U.S. Treasury Department announced Monday that member states of the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC) have imposed coordinated sanctions against key elements of Hezbollah's financial network.
The joint action targets five Hezbollah-affiliated organizations and 16 individuals connected to the Iran-backed terrorist group's financial operations. Among those sanctioned are Al-Qard Al-Hassan and Bayt al-Mal, underground financial institutions linked to Hezbollah, along with several of their senior leaders.
Cutting Off Terror Financing
According to the U.S. Treasury Department, the designated networks threaten regional stability, international security, shared economic interests, and global commerce. Officials said restricting Hezbollah's access to funding helps protect the integrity of the international financial system, supports the Lebanese people, and strengthens efforts to combat terrorist networks.
About the TFTC
The Terrorist Financing Targeting Center was established in May 2017 during President Donald Trump's first administration to coordinate efforts against terrorist financing across the Middle East.
The United States and Saudi Arabia serve as co-chairs of the organization. Other member states include Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
This marks the ninth round of coordinated sanctions issued by the TFTC and the third since President Trump's second administration took office, reflecting continued efforts to disrupt the financial infrastructure supporting Iran-backed terrorist organizations.
