Trump Escalates Pressure on Iran With New Strike Threats, Oil Infrastructure Warnings, and Economic Measures
President Donald Trump signaled a major escalation in the conflict with Iran, warning of additional U.S. military strikes while threatening to seize key Iranian oil infrastructure, including Kharg Island. As fighting continues around the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, the Trump administration is also preparing economic measures targeting Iranian assets and pushing U.S. defense manufacturers to increase weapons production amid growing concerns over military stockpiles.
President Donald Trump announced that the United States would launch additional military strikes against Iran, describing the coming attacks as stronger and more powerful than previous operations.
In statements on Truth Social and during a Fox News interview, Trump claimed that much of Iran's military infrastructure, including radar systems, air defenses, naval assets, and offensive capabilities, had already been significantly degraded.
Trump also stated that U.S. aircraft were actively operating over Iran and suggested that military operations could eventually be reduced if conditions change. However, he emphasized that all military options remain available.
Iranian officials rejected Trump's claims that Iranian representatives had requested a halt to the attacks, calling those reports false.
Kharg Island and Iran's Energy Sector in Focus
One of the most significant elements of Trump's latest statements involved direct threats against Iran's energy infrastructure.
Trump said the United States could eventually secure Kharg Island, Iran's primary oil export hub, along with other strategic energy facilities. He argued that controlling these assets would give the United States leverage over Iran's oil and gas industry.
Kharg Island is considered one of the most critical components of Iran's economy and serves as a major export point for Iranian crude oil.
Economic Pressure Campaign Expands
The Trump administration also signaled that economic warfare against Tehran would intensify.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that any damage caused by Iran to U.S. allies in the Gulf region could be offset using Iranian assets seized or frozen abroad.
According to estimates cited in international reports, Iranian assets frozen overseas are believed to total between $100 billion and $123 billion. The administration has also reportedly expanded efforts to seize Iranian-linked financial resources, including cryptocurrency holdings.
Bessent warned that every additional Iranian attack would result in deeper economic consequences for the regime.
Concerns Grow Over U.S. Weapons Stockpiles
As military operations continue, concerns are mounting over the pace at which the United States is consuming missiles and interceptor systems.
Reports indicate that Trump plans to meet with leaders from major American defense contractors to demand faster weapons production. Analysts have warned that replenishing key systems such as Patriot missile interceptors could take years and require substantial additional funding.
The White House maintains that current stockpiles remain sufficient to meet all strategic objectives but supports expanding production capacity.
Dispute Over Alleged Water Infrastructure Strike
Meanwhile, Iranian state media accused the United States of striking water storage facilities in Hormozgan Province, disrupting drinking water supplies for approximately 20,000 residents.
Iranian officials described the incident as a deliberate attack on civilian infrastructure and labeled it a war crime. U.S. Central Command denied targeting civilian facilities and stated that water infrastructure was not among its designated military objectives.
The claims have not been independently verified.
Conflict Shows No Immediate Signs of Ending
The latest developments come as ceasefire and diplomatic efforts remain stalled. Fighting continues around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important maritime chokepoints.
With military strikes expanding, economic pressure increasing, and both sides hardening their positions, the confrontation between Washington and Tehran appears poised to enter a more dangerous phase.
