Trump: Iran Memorandum Is Not Final, Warns Military Action Could Resume
President Donald Trump said the memorandum of understanding with Iran is not a final agreement and warned that the United States could resume military strikes if Tehran fails to meet expectations. He also said the understanding does not include immediate sanctions relief.
President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the memorandum of understanding involving Iran is not a final agreement and warned that military action remains an option if negotiations fail.
Speaking at the G7 summit in France, Trump stressed that the current memorandum is only a preliminary understanding and not a completed deal.
"It's a memorandum of understanding. And if I don't like it, we'll go back to shooting at them, dropping bombs on their head. If I don't like it, if they don't behave, we'll go right back to dropping bombs right smack in the middle of their head," Trump said.
Trump also stated that the memorandum does not include immediate sanctions relief for Iran. He said additional details regarding sanctions would be discussed at a later time.
Why It Matters
Trump's remarks signal that the United States is maintaining pressure on Iran while negotiations continue. His comments underscore that any future agreement will depend on Iran's actions and compliance with U.S. expectations.
