Trump Vows to Read U.S.-Iran Agreement "Word for Word" So Americans Hear It Exactly as Written
President Donald Trump says he will personally read the entire U.S.-Iran agreement "word for word" during a press conference to prevent what he calls misleading media coverage. Trump says the agreement blocks Iran from ever obtaining a nuclear weapon while offering economic benefits only if Tehran fully honors its commitments.
President Donald Trump announced that he plans to personally read the entire U.S.-Iran agreement word for word during an upcoming press conference, saying he wants Americans to hear the deal exactly as written instead of relying on media interpretations.
Speaking during a bilateral meeting with United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the G7 summit, Trump said he is waiting for the appropriate setting before releasing the full text of the agreement.
"I'll not only release it — I'll probably have a press conference and read it to you word by word, so that the press covers it accurately," Trump said.
The president described the agreement as a complete break from the Obama administration's Iran policy. According to Trump, the deal permanently bars Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon while creating a framework for reopening and clearing the Strait of Hormuz, helping restore international shipping after months of regional tensions.
Vice President JD Vance said the agreement follows a two-step verification process. Under the framework, Iran would gain access to normal economic activity and the global marketplace only after fully meeting its obligations under the agreement.
"You're welcome to have access to an unsanctioned economy. You're welcome to be invited into the world economy, but only if you honor the commitments that you make in this agreement," Vance said.
Trump also said he intends to share the agreement with Congress after lawmakers from both parties requested additional details.
A Different Approach Than the Obama-Era Agreement
Supporters of the agreement argue that it differs significantly from the 2015 Obama-era Iran nuclear deal. Under the framework described by Trump and his administration, Iran receives no automatic sanctions relief or economic rewards. Any benefits would depend on verified compliance with the agreement's requirements, including preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
This is not the Obama Iran deal. No cash pallets. No blank check. No reward for terror.
Iran only gets benefits if it changes course. If it keeps backing terror, it gets nothing.
