Trump Warns China and Russia Against Arming Iran, Says 'Very Bad Things' Would Follow

President Donald Trump said Thursday that both Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have assured him they will not provide or sell weapons to the Iranian regime.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Xi told him during their meeting in Beijing in May that China would not supply Iran with weapons under any circumstances, including through Chinese companies. Trump added that he accepts Xi's commitment and noted the positive relationship between the two leaders.

Trump also said Putin made a similar pledge despite Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine. According to Trump, the Russian president said Moscow would not sell weapons to Iran. Trump added that Putin understands the United States sells weapons to NATO allies rather than directly to Ukraine.

Warning to Beijing and Moscow

Trump emphasized that, in his view, China and Russia are currently not involved in supplying weapons to Iran. However, he issued a clear warning that if either country chooses to arm the Iranian regime, there would be 'very bad things' for them and that such a move would not serve their own interests.

'If they do, very bad things will happen to them. It certainly would not be in their best interest,' Trump wrote.

Concerns Over Iran's Military Support

While Trump expressed confidence in the assurances he received, concerns remain over continued cooperation between Iran, China, and Russia. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently told lawmakers there is clear evidence of growing cooperation among America's adversaries, saying both China and Russia help enable some of Iran's activities at different levels.

The warning comes as Iran continues to strengthen ties with both Beijing and Moscow while expanding its military capabilities and supporting Iran-backed terror networks across the Middle East.
