Trump Warns Iran: 'He'd Better Watch His Mouth' as Tensions Escalate Over Nuclear Talks
President Donald Trump issued sharp warnings to Iran during ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations, threatening stronger military action if Tehran refuses to reach an agreement. He also demanded that Iran rein in Hezbollah, warning of severe consequences if its proxy forces continue to provoke instability.
President Donald Trump issued a series of strong warnings to Iran on Sunday as U.S. and Iranian officials held talks in Switzerland aimed at advancing negotiations over a new memorandum of understanding.
Speaking with Fox News, Trump said the United States could become the 'guardian angel' of the Strait of Hormuz and suggested Washington could take control of the strategic waterway if necessary.
“We may take control of the strait if we need to. If they don’t make a deal, we’ll charge transit fees,” Trump said, while also warning that Iran would face overwhelming consequences if negotiations fail.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important energy corridors, with a significant share of global oil shipments passing through the narrow passage.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded by insisting Tehran would not abandon its uranium enrichment program, saying Iran's right to enrichment is non-negotiable.
Trump later responded by saying, “He’d better watch his mouth, he’d better shape up, or we’ll take over the rest of his country.”
Trump Issues Additional Warning Over Hezbollah
Following the interview, Trump posted another warning on Truth Social, calling on Iran to immediately halt the activities of Hezbollah, the Iran-backed terrorist organization operating in Lebanon.
“Iran must immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble. If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!” Trump wrote.
The latest exchange highlights growing tensions between Washington and Tehran as negotiations continue, with regional security, Iran's nuclear program, and Tehran's support for terrorist proxy groups remaining at the center of the dispute.
